All parents and guardians of children enrolled in the Lansdowne Middle School music programs are members of the Lansdowne Music Parents Association (LMPA). The purpose of the LMPA is to support and promote the activities of the music program. This includes helping out at concerts and other events to allow the teachers to focus on the students and performances, as well as fundraising for the music program. Some funds raised go towards the purchase of sheet music, instruments, and other equipment; tours; and general program expenses. Some fundraising benefits the students directly - the profits are left in individual student music accounts and can be used towards a variety of expenses such as tour fees, private lessons, and instrument rental.
All parents and guardians are welcome to attend the LMPA meetings! It is a great opportunity to meet the teachers and other music families, find out what is happening 'behind the scenes,' and hear about upcoming events. The LMPA meets monthly, usually on the first Monday of each month, except when that date is a holiday. Meetings may be held in person in the music room on North Campus, virtually via Zoom or other platform, or a hybrid of each. The meeting schedule for the 2023-24 school year is as follows:
September 11; October 16; November 6; December 4; January 15; February 5; March 4; April 8; May 6; June 3.
